Arts Award Discover

Arts-Award-CentreAvenue Junior School is now a registered Arts Award centre, and a group of Year 5s have become the first children to achieve their Arts Award Discover with us. The children explored where the arts can be found around us, and researched artists they had a particular interest in. They then went on to create a wide range of arts projects, including: animated films using materials such as Lego, plasticine models and other characters; a story entitled “The Highlight of my Day”; and a dance performance featuring both group and individual elements. Parents, family and friends were invited to the final performance and really enjoyed seeing the children present their work.

We hope to have many more children complete their Arts Award Discover and Explore certificates, working in a range of media and on different projects.

Arts Award’s unique qualifications support young people to develop as artists and arts leaders. The programme develops creativity, leadership and communication skills. Arts Award is open to anyone aged up to 25, and embraces all interests and backgrounds. Through Arts Award young people learn to work independently, helping them to prepare for further education and employment.
