P.E - Keeping Fit and Active

As a school we keep active in our classrooms with Jump Start Jonny – an online membership service that gives us access to video resources with movements for the children to follow. Our P.E Co-Lead Mr Reynolds has been in contact with Jonny, who will be adding lots of resources to his ‘Free Stuff’ section over the next days and weeks: https://www.jumpstartjonny.co.uk/free-stuff

On the https://www.activekidsdobetter.co.uk/ website there is a range of resources that you can access from home. We recommend the ‘Activity Booster’ which allows you to choose your favourite movements, set a 2, 5 or 10 minute timer and play a funky tune to move to!

Sometimes, just a quick shake-up is all you need to let off a little steam and help your brain digest what it has been learning. These Disney/Pixar-themed activities from the NHS Change4Life website are a great way to keep the energy levels up and manage the switch between one lesson and another:https://www.nhs.uk/10-minute-shake-up/shake-ups

Yoga is a great way to feel the benefit of physical activity without the need for high impact or high energy. These yoga videos from Cosmic Kids are a great way for kids and grown-ups to be active together: https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga Check out the Zen Den videos for mindfulness tips and strategies too.

How about joining the nation’s largest PE lesson? Joe ‘The Body Coach’ Wicks is hosting a live 30 minute PE and fitness video on his YouTube channel every weekday at 9am. Subscribe here: https://www.youtube.com/thebodycoachtv
